Ethiopian Customer's Procurement Trip in Hangzhou: High-Quality Used Excavators Facilitate Transnational Cooperation
On September 16th, Mr. Bini, a representative of an Ethiopian construction company, and his entourage arrived in Hangzhou, kicking off a three-day procurement trip for used excavators. The purchase aimed to add cost-effective used excavators for the company's road construction project in Addis Ababa. After in-depth inspections and comparisons, Mr. Bini successfully signed a contract with Hangzhou Huigong Technology Co., Ltd. on September 18th, purchasing 2 units of used Hitachi 350-5G excavators with a total value of RMB 800,000.
Mr. Bini focused on visiting several local used construction machinery suppliers in Hangzhou during this trip. When touring the warehouse of Hangzhou Huigong Technology, he expressed surprise at the good condition of the equipment: "Although these excavators are used, after professional renovation and maintenance, their performance is not inferior to new ones." The company's technicians demonstrated the equipment operation on-site and provided complete maintenance records and performance test reports. The finally selected 2 Hitachi 350-5G excavators are all equipped with original hydraulic systems, with the engine running time less than 5,000 hours, and no cracks or damages on key structural components.
Price was one of the key factors contributing to the transaction. After comparison, Mr. Bini found that the local price of a new excavator of the same model was about RMB 1.6 million per unit, while the unit price of this batch of certified used equipment was only RMB 400,000, saving more than 75 percent of the cost. "Such prices allow us to purchase more equipment within the budget," he added. "Chinese-made construction machinery enjoys a good reputation in the African market, especially in terms of cost-effectiveness."
On September 20th, the equipment completed the container loading and shipment procedures and is expected to arrive at the Port of Djibouti in late October. At the delivery ceremony, Mr. Bini said: "This procurement experience has exceeded expectations. Not only is the equipment quality excellent, but the supplier also provides a complete after-sales support plan, including a one-year warranty for core components and remote technical guidance." He particularly emphasized that such cost-effective procurement will effectively enhance his company's competitiveness in the Ethiopian infrastructure construction market.
Director Hou, Sales Director of Hangzhou Huigong Technology, stated: "We have always adhered to strict standards for renovating used equipment, ensuring that each machine delivered meets more than 80 percent of the performance indicators of new ones. For international customers, we also provide customized logistics and customs clearance services." With the deepening of the "Belt and Road" cooperation, more and more African customers choose to come to China to purchase used construction machinery. The company has received 3 African procurement groups just this month.
This transaction not only reflects the competitive advantages of Chinese manufacturing in the international used equipment market but also demonstrates the vigorous vitality of China-Africa economic and trade cooperation. Before departing, Mr. Bini promised to come to Hangzhou again in the spring of next year to purchase loaders and other equipment and establish a long-term cooperative relationship.
